RE: Fenn Likes the Ladies
Hasn't FF always maintained that he was "79 or 80" when he hid the chest in most interviews? That's a major change to the 'script' because I thought he got cancer in 1988? This suggests (to me) that the lines were scripted from the beginning and the story, chest, etc... is most likely a fabrication.

That has to be frustrating for Forrest. Keeps seeing the tip of the rod twitch, then the whole thing arc with a firmly planted hook, only to reel it in and find it's just that annoying Yoonik guy at the end of the line yet again.

Sounds like the annoying Yoonick guy makes you crazy. Not a damned thing you can do about it. Sucks to be you.

Remember, Craig Childs saw the chest a few years before Forrest hid it.

Quote:A few years before he announced the treasure hunt in 2010, I saw this chest with my own eyes. I was interviewing Fenn in his Santa Fe home about his collection of pre-Columbian artifacts. He led me into a vault with a thick steel door where he showed me a dazzling array of ancient materials. On a work table was this 22-pound chest of Romanesque design, something you could lift with two hands. It brimmed with gold artifacts and coins. He told me of his plans to hide it and spark a hunt, saying that the chest alone is worth $24,000.

Is it? What happened to 2009/10 then?

Forrest Fenn is 88 and he was diagnosed with cancer in 1988 so it's easy to see why he'd have "88" on the brain. But from the context of what he's saying, it's clear (in my mind) that he was referencing the economic collapse of 2008 as the catalyst for hiding the treasure, but accidentally said 1988.

No one said anything about hiding it in 2008/1988, he just said that the economic crash of that year is what motivated him.

I think he messed up, meant 2008. 1988 and 2008 arent even close, I could see 1988 and 1998, both with 19s. But he clearly said he hid it in 1988. When was this filmed? Maybe he is losing it, sad if the case.

I believe Mr. Fenn previously stated that he made the decision to hide the chest in 1988. Since he knew then where it would be hidden and that he was going to make it work "no matter what", it could be argued that, figuratively speaking, he hid the chest in 1988 but he did not actually place it at the spot until 2010. "Indecision is the key to flexibility."

Maybe, Maybe Not.

Peace,

Inohury

Craig Childs saw the chest in Forrest's home when he was doing research and interviews for his book Finders Keepers which as published in August 2010. It's irrelevant to speculate about the chest being hidden before that.
