Here on the west coast some use Juniper fires for smudging. I think it's just a great smelling fire.

I prefer to drink it in Gin, but with Tonic and not Martinis. I don't like olives and so rule them out of the Chase.

.

One Common Thread to Both Books is...

When Forrest talks about <b>NINE-MILE-HOLE</b> in ( <b>TTOTC</b> P.122 ) Evidently, <b>NINE-MILE-HOLE</b> is Not Too Far To Walk ( Forrest says that <b>"Ten Miles" is TFTW</b> ).

<b>JUNIPER FIRES at "WATKINS CREEK", the GUEST cabins have FIREPLACES</b>, it's where his DAD took the FAMILY during SUMMER SCHOOL BREAK ?

Founded in the late 1890s as Watkins Creek Ranch by George S. Watkins. Originally much larger, Watkins Creek Ranch sold much of its land to the Madison Power and Light Company in 1904 to make way for the Hebgen Lake Dam. Much of Watkins’ cattle were sold to <b>Yellowstone National Park while the remaining land was converted into a dude ranch</b>.

<b>Making of a DUDE</b> ?

Watkins Creek Ranch, guest cabin in 1947, construction somewhat MATCHES photos on page 122, 44 & 46 TTOTC, described as Watkins Creek "WEST YELLOWSTONE".

was entered into the National Register of Historic Places under the name Watkins Creek Ranch on December 27, 2006.

Those kind of cabins are found throughout the west. Its not unique to YS. Dude is the name westerners gave to people who came west to experience the west on vacation. Dude ranches were found in all the search states. Many even had a stock of dude costumes that guests wore to attend functions like cookouts. No body who lived in the west would have been caught dead wearing them. LOL
Shhh they aren't listening.
