I agree - been to Bar Harbor 3 times over the past years. It goes until 2020 I believe. A fun story and limited area to search (1 island).

I will try again after I make this years trip out west.

@mdc777 - thanks for the heads up - There is a Comic Con here in the New York Area in October.

If I read it correctly, the first book "The Calling" will have the $500,000 prize. The subsequent 2 books will have a larger payout. The problem is that it is the opposite of what Forrest was hoping and definitely won't get anyone outside to enjoy the "thrills".

That's right this is definitely a "armchair" treasure hunt. It sounds like the "key" required to get the gold is not a physical key but something to unlock the box the gold is in. They said if you can get the book in a library )free) and use the libraries computer (free) you can find the key.

I like how he talks about Masquerade and the effect it had on him as a child. I wlll be buying the book. If anyone else is interested maybe we could do a forum like this for this hunt.

I think this treasure hunt is great for groups because the treasure is gold coins that can be split up easily between the members of the group. Then

they can sell them, keep them, melt them down whatever. Gold has a real value and it's not subjective like some of the contents in Mr. Fenns chest.

The other plus is it is a armchair treasure hunt. The way he makes it sound is it can be solved from home.

So when the book comes out let's do it!!
