I always thought that the clues were all tied together by one common it like the ball of string has individual pieces all connected together. So each clue location is a separate thing but they all are connected together by a common theme, trail, person etc.

He said he used mostly white string, and tied the strings end to end. His big ball of string is literally a lie, and he kept making ti bigger by just adding on other little white lies. Who has a ball of string too big to roll out the door, really?

The Griswolds hunt for Forrest's Treasure... Now that's a movie "Griswolds do Yellowstone"... I can write the script now!!!!! LOL!

Beverly D'angleo: "Clark, stay away from that Grizzly!"

Chevy: "Don't worry honey, bears love me!"

Bear snarls and chases clark... "Clark, screams.. OH CRAP!!!!!! As Clark is running down the trail waving his arms in panic..

Cousin Eddie steps out on to the trail.. With a shotgun.. He Shoots, misses.. and the Grizzly TRUCKS HIM knocks him down. The Griz starts to sniff him.. Frightened by his smell. Runs away!!!!

Okay, feel free to slam me for writing this.. or if you think its funny.. send me some kudos!

Cousin Eddy finds it but buries it again in his front trailer yard never to remember again where he but buried it in the ending but shows a cameo of Forrest hiding behind a tree snickering and with a shovel in hand and the shovel has PTN initials on it! However if you look at the ending with a still shot you can she a shawdowy figure of Steph in behind him wearing a to be continued t-shirt.

This is the first I've seen this. Too funny. I love the graywater in Old Faithful. Tim I could picture Eddy finding the chest and the entire movie he's using it to shimmy up his trailer. At the end something happens where they are on a cliff and it tips over just as Clark realizes they had the chest all along....it crashes to the bottom of the cliff and gold coins shoot up into the air and fall all around a very crowded place where strangers pick up the coins and necklaces fall right on the neck of Ranger whatever his name is.

Forrest's Giant Ball of String, soda caps, etc. - What is he hinting too? I am lost on this one...

What do you guys think?

Forrest already answered this question by telling us a person was deeply focused on a keyword.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/String_theory

In physics, string theory is a theoretical framework in which the point-like particles of particle physics are replaced by one-dimensional objects called strings.[1]

Mr. Fenn talked about using chain to measure distance, so many links to the mile. Well chain is heavy, so it's modern equivalent used in surveying is called (string chain) it's a roll of string mounted inside a housing with a counter, the free end of the string is tied off, as the user walks along a survey line the counter records the number of feet traveled.
