Two Trips?
Hi Becky, I also believe it was one of Loren Mills’ interviews where he talked about making two trips. I took it he made two trips from his car……I will find that interview and listen to it again to see if I still get that impression.

@ knowitall,

I thought you would have done a little better research considering your name.

Scrapbook Twenty Nine on Dal’s blog Fenn writes:

I received a nice letter today from a delightful woman in Colorado Springs. Her name is Jeannie. She said she was in the grocery store and looked at a bag of dogfood that weighed 20 pounds so she put two of them together to see if she could lift them (the treasure weighs 42 pounds) she said she couldn’t budge the two bags. Maybe that’s why a 79 year old man had to make two trips to hide the treasure. f

Thanks for that, Goofy. So Forrest really did say it. I'd imagine he meant two trips from the car to the hiding place with half the load each time.

Hey has anyone considered that walking to a car instead of a truck was significant. I have considered places then said "hey would Forrest really have taken a car here..."No"... a truck... "yes".

Fenn made the "two-trips" comment in an interview with KOB-TV's on-air personality Gadi Schwartz. He was referring to two trips from his vehicle to the hide site. Schwartz retells the story in an interview he did with KOBs morning program, which you can find on YouTube.

Two Trips?
very interesting discussion

Mr Fenn clearly says he made two trips

he says 'maybe' as to why he did it. maybe, just like the woman could have divided 40 lbs into 2 20lb bags, F could have taken just the chest, and then just the treasure. makes a lot of sense.

but then why say 'maybe'. he could have just said thats what he did. i dont see an impact on the treasure hunt from acknowledging that. then again, maybe he just said maybe, and thats in fact what he did.

my cause for pause is because when he says he made 2 trips, it sounds an awful lot like, i have gone alone in there, and then i went in with my treasures

if these are the same things being referred to, then going in alone can't be going in with the chest i don't think. the chest is certainly part of the treasure, and even if you try to say it's not, then going in with the chest, and then going in with the contents, you can't say one is 'alone' and the other is not.

i have to remain open minded as a result, as to why he went in twice. it may be that he said 'maybe' for a reason

Perhaps Mr. and Mrs. Brown's home was as far back as he needed to go for his second trip. He recalled that he was worried one might see him as he was in the parking area when he arrived as well as when he left. To take a second trip back to his car would of increased this risk of detection.

Or 'Maybe' If He went alone in there with the chest, He only considers the chest has simply a container, a heavy one but... and with my treasure bold, is the contents later or another trip, which is the actual treasure in his eyes.

Using the word 'maybe' is just another way of saying 'I could have, made two trips' but using the term maybe made two trips, makes me think that maybe there was even more trips. alluding to possibly of different trips at different times.

Half? never heard that word used. but if you use the amount of 22 troy pounds - chest and contents{42lbs.} = 20 lbs { for the chest}in simple math, yes, then approx. 1/2.

The statement he made was in response to an e-mail a woman, explaining how she try to carry 2 20lb bags of dog food and how difficult it would be. FF being FF could have just replied maybe two trips, for the simple reason she had two bags. And now we are talking about it as it is a fact of what he did.
