Old Drum's skepticism about Fenn's responses are the same as mine.
Which is why I emailed a rebuttal.

And to clarify....the email refers to searchers as well. NOT just Fenn because he knows where to get it.

According to Stephanie, Forrest once told her that the chest is not in a tree but it is surrounded by trees. He then went on to say, of course everything is surrounded by trees if you go out far enough.
I can’t point to where this was passed on to me and I cannot speak for its accuracy. This is how I remember it.
I will say that I have used it cautiously in my own pursuit of the chest.

I don't think the exact email of this conversation has ever surfaced, but it's been passed around enough and Fenn never disputed it that it can probably be taken as accurate.

Fenn never corrected saying that the White Knight had a lot of his solve right, or that ciphers were not in play, so by your reasoning are we to assume that ciphers are to be used in solving the poem? I am more inclined to believe that Fenn does not comment on many things one way or the other.

I have also read that Forrest claimed he didn't say that.

Here's one you probably already have heard, just in case you haven't

( at 1:35 )

Quote:He took his chest and he stuck it in there under some timber, some vigas, some latillas ...

( of course understanding that he is referring to someone else, just looked interesting )
