I was pulled to this spot also. He talks of Buffalo and nickels many times, ( Buffalo were on nickels ). Also fits with no place for the meek if you look up meaning of Pueblos name.

I'm not convinced this line is a clue. I think it works nicely for rhyme and meter, and simply means to whet our appetite for the treasure.

I think there are some subtle hints in the book that, like the bracelet in the chest, f regrets putting in there.

By the way...anyone going to Buffalo Thunder should play the Wheel of Fortune slot machine and the best one is the one where you face the people coming down the stairs. I also think anyone going should take a photo like mine with the buffalo and post it(because I like doing fun strange things ;-)

Ohhhhh I didn't even think about the nickel reference. I guess I always play the quarter slots LOL.

Or that he's had it and now he's passing it onto someone new. Maybe that's what he means.

I've wondered about this....why would he say riches new and old? I think everything in there would be considered old. So I thought maybe it has something to do with a place that you find new riches where he's putting something with old riches. When I read the story about Cody the buffalo, I thought....it sure seems like it could also be a parallel to him being in a casino. All the noise, and I think he says something about pulling on a piece of metal(like when you pull on a slot handle). Then there's the poem in the front about gambling...and also at the end of that story he talks about them losing things that reminds me of when you lose all your money, you lose your shirt. My start point was Buffalo Thunder Casino. I think this is the one with the golf course too and he talks about 9 hole and there's an island on the last hole if I remember right.

My other thought was a country club where there's new and old money. Some of them also have golf courses.

Matthew 13:52 (International Standard version of the Bible)

Then Jesus told them, "That is why every scribe who has been trained for the kingdom from heaven is like the master of a household who brings both new and old things out of his treasure chest."

Other parts of Matthew 13 talks about fishermen, a blazing furnace, etc. Maybe the entire book of Matthew is special to FF?

Richard Wetherell is an "old" Rich. Though he is mentioned specifically by name in the stories, perhaps it is really the "new" Rich FF is hinting at. Any other thoughts/ideas? Maybe a different kind of "rich" altogether? I'm thinking not the valuable/money rich, and maybe not even another person "rich", but something like rich food etc....?

No way. He's for to smart for regrets. He's thought this whole thing through from every angle.
