If Forrest does want another hunt, I'm sure we can give him some great places where the poem fits.

I wouldn't want to sell or trade it either.

I think Mr. Fenn wanting to influence the future and leaving his autobiography in the chest, protected by a glass jar are indications he doesn't want the chest found until long after he's passed.

I think he'd be a little disappointed if found any time soon.

I'm not sure Mr. Fenn's "where not to look" clues are going to help anyone find his chest.

I think his appearances and interviews in which people may see new clues, are intended to keep the buzz alive in the treasure hunt community and I think he's trying not to put out anything significant as a new clue. Even the "unintentional clue" in his new book, being what I believe is the map cutting off Canada as a search location, is not being admitted by him, as the "unintentional clue". He just wants to keep the mystery of the clue going. Why would he say there's an unintentional clue, except to generate more interest? But not interest that will find it, just interest to participate, and dare I say, buy the book.

I think he is walking a thin line between needing to keep the high interest going for the sake of the fund to pay for a child's cancer treatment, the demand for his time with his own enjoyment the celebrity status gives him and the other side is to keep his original intent going... that it won't be found until he's long gone. He accomplishes both with each email he answers, each "scrapbook" page on a blog and each sandwich he eats (or so it seems to some people).

Personally, I don't see anything that tells me he wants it found soon. I think it's just a matter of people wanting to think he wants the hunt over soon, and that tells them it is more possible to find it. If they think it's intended to be found 100 or 1000 years from now, perhaps people will think it's too difficult and not try. That's the last thing he wants.

Lots of people thought the Today Show clues would end with the chest found after 8 or 9 additional clues. But they ended after a few clues and no chest. You can draw your own conclusion.

I think it's because no truly helpful clues were coming... because he doesn't want it found anytime soon.

I believe he wants it over with. Why give out any extra clues or even have an email account if he really didnt care? Im sure his family would want it over with too.lol

Halo, in my thoughts he may want to buy it back so he can donate it to the Smithsonian. That way he gets the tax deduction. Smile

I really dont think its about fame at all, and am suprised that others do think that. You know even if the chase were over tomorrow, I would still like to talk to Forrest. He is so interesting and funny. Smile

JDH, if you dont think the clues are helpful you havent found the right area. Smile
Shhh they aren't listening.

To me, it is very clear that he wants the chest found before he passes this mortal plane. In the newer book, he wrote that the human body ages very quickly after it arrives at the 80 year old date. TFTW seems to expand upon TTOTC exponentially and with his statements since its publication he apparently believes the treasure will be found soon. I concur with him.

He's running out of spy-satellite timeshare; he can't afford another couple of years watching 'over' it. Smile

I'm with Dan and Old Timer on this one. I think he wants it found soon. Everyone wants to hear what is said at their eulogy.

I think he wants it found soon so he can be buried with his bracelet, or hand it down. If not buried, placed in his crypt where the chest was or nearby, like the Indians on the burial scaffold, to become part of nature again. The bracelet to fall down in the crevices and be covered over by wind and dirt and leaves, and found again 100's or 1,000's of years from now, along with a few of his scattered bones.

As much as all of us wish to be in control of our final destiny, we are not. Everyone thinks they have more time than they actually do. He probably sits around now thinking, well, I have enough time to get this done today and am feeling okay. Maybe I'll have time to release another really juicy clue next week and see it found after all. If it took 15 years for the poem, it may take a few years for the next best clue to be crafted.......my latest discovery......there is a huge clue in Quest !.....see ya at FF's party......... afterwards......See, that's what I have planned...a big party for FF and using part of the treasure to throw the biggest shindig Santa Fe ever saw.

No, you are not invited Seeker, unless you 'put' the numbers down ....and step 'away' from the poem......heh heh heh...
