Poll: Does "it's there in spirit" mean he is still intending on giving the person that finds the chest $100K if they come forward, assuming the IOU is not in the chest?

Why wouldn't he want to try and keep all the various searchers straight. To me that shows he's smart. If someone doesn't like the fact that it is his game, he made it up, and he makes the rules. Then they should take their chicken poop attitude and don't let the door hit them while they find another game to play or make up their own. That includes people who think that people dieing while searching is some earth shattering catastrophe that ff is somehow responsible for.
Well said Buddy, next thing you know people are going to blame Fenn for global warming because some are driving vehicles all over the Rockies looking for the chest...

Come on people is a chest full of gold not enough? Now there's talk about a house with a pool and a 100k inside, if that's what you think your better off playing the lotto or hitting a casino, good luck.

$100,000 IOU there in spirit?

What ? So now we're back to favorites again ?

Bullhockey.

If I thought for one effin' minute that Fenn was that chicken***t, I'd burn his book and every bit of the research I've done and turn and walk away and never look back.

I'm not cut like that. I will not be a part of some friggin' Peyton Place.

Gimme a friggin break.

Geeze.

I guess I'm SOL already then, cause I say what's on my mind.
Oh dear, I've been a bad bad boy and now I find out that Fenn is keeping a record of all of my smartass comments and it has cost me 100k.

I swearda gawd.

Read the blogs for entertainment ...

Just for a moment, without screaming at me, think about what playing favorites could mean. Through contests at Dal's, book sales etc. he has collected addresses and names that no one else on the blog has access to.

Playing favorites may not be the right way to characterize it. When some people have talked about their lineage he responded that he was sitting down(ready to listen). He's looking for someone. In some ways Toby may be right, Forrest wants the right person to find the chest.

"FF: I wrote the book for everyone who feels a sense of wanderlust."

The book and everything else about the Chase, is available to anyone and everyone.

What's to stop the 'wrong' person from figuring out where the clues lead to, while all of the 'right' people are still trying to figure out what wwwh means ?

I wonder how many thousands of searchers never post on these blogs and has never contacted Forrest in any way ?

How does f know which of those are the 'right' person ?

How many times have people on the sites turned against each other ?
How many times have serious searchers flipped and started proclaiming the whole thing is a hoax ?

Do people actually believe that Forrest is going to tell his lawyers "hey, if I'm dead when the chest is found, give this $100k to the finder when s/he shows up. But here's a list of searchers I don't like so, make sure you don't give it to any of these 'wrong' people." ?

I mean, do people actually believe that ?

The IOU was never about who's been naughty and who's been nice.

Sorry to burst bubbles but, it was never about picking the 'right' person and rewarding them.
It was never about playing favorites and liking any particular searcher(s) over all of the other searchers.

The IOU was about knowing when the chest was found. Period.

But, if there's anyone here who needs to, then by all means, carry on and feel special, or better than, the rest of us unworthy
scoundrels.

LMAO.

RE: $100,000 IOU there in spirit?
Unless the finder cheated to find the tc like hacked emails, cheated a partner of their rightful share or coerced/fennangled a telling clue to the tc location - wouldn't the person who solved the poem and found the tc be the "right" person in ff's eyes? Why would he care who finds it if it was found on the up-and-up?

Both of these $100k IOU threads are thick with illogical thought, even the polls are, if Fenn said he thought of a better way, why do the IOU thing?

There are some logical things I could point out that others seemed to have failed to notice on this topic but it would go against all the illogical thought here, play on!

I don't think the IOU is there, but I believe the story was told for a reason.

I think you should unzip and share. I only started this chase 2 years ago and I got my own chewing of my tush on this board. I think those new bring a great deal of value. I wont be silenced, nor should you. Just certain words can't be used and I learned my lesson - though the truth (I hope) can always be said. Rock on! (Sorry, in that 80s kinds mood tonight!).
