why was Forrest talking about baking a cake? why?

is it because the secret W is already baked in, so to speak?

we can figure that out without leaving home perhaps, but i think there's more to it. something we can really chew on

he told us that we can't start out by looking for the blaze

ok, so let's figure out the other Where. begin it Where

and we can't be impatient. no matter how much we don't want to wait around and want to jump right into the blaze clue, we should try to figure the starting point first

i get it, you find the blaze, look down, game over. who doesn't like shortcuts. but apparently there aren't any

so, i think OH! is onto something with the 43, and it may be related to Where to begin it

and going by what f said, perhaps this unlocks a pattern that can be used to help find the blaze once we've determined a beginningh point

so i'm looking at a map, and I'm thinking about what the lines in the poem say, and match it to what I see on the map

As I have gone alone in there
I can keep my secret where
Begin it where
if you've been wise and found the blaze
look down
tarry scant with marvel gaze

and it dawns on me...

Begin it where, and, if you've been wise and found the blaze

it's talking about the same place !!!

that's crazy right?

ok, y'all can ignore this post now since I've obviously lost it

It's okay to talk to yourself.

It's even okay to argue with yourself.

But what do you do when you lose the argument?

Do you claim victory?

OH! I should say something about the hunt . . . since the number 8
seems to be a popular one in FF's writing(s), maybe there's some
good karma in the hunt lasting 8 years, although it's not over yet
and may last longer than we tink. I like the bumper sticker that says
"My karma ran over your dogma".
And whyle I have y'all's attention (or not), I'll continue my tail . . . and
perhaps misquote sumbuddy by saying that regarding the poem and it's "layers", the devil is in the details. Hmm . . . detail . . . reminds me of
Tail End Charlie, although I'm not sure that Tail End Charlie is a "layer";
if so, would the nest be on the ground?

@ CY: I agree with almost everything you say here.

In real life, you can’t unbake a cake. But you are supposed to unbake the poem.

Tailwaters, headwaters, inlets, outlets, quarries and mines, and 40’s and horns and tubs and yes’s and no’s.

Who knows? Smile

RE: secret W
in reference to tinking about things

we don't have to necessarily tinker with the poem to see what the title is

is it a king, or a queen? is it the winking of an eye?

i've said it before but i really love those arrow clues

the girl from india knows what i'm talkin bout

i just want to collect all of them with a big ol' nett

I don't know...I think it perfectly describes how to solve the poem. I like to look for recipes of my favorite chain restaurant dishes on the internet. In many cases, someone out there has the experience to reverse engineer recipes.

Remember the backwards bicycle? It wasn't about riding, it was about making your brain think in reverse. Kind of like what sailors who sail with a tiller have to do.
