RE: Of Brown
Van Dyke Gulch in Beaverhead County, MT is this the place you are referring to in the Rockies?
As to finding Van Dyke in the book, can you find it in the poem?

If it's in Beaverhead County, I'll eat my hat!

RE: Of Brown
I've researched Charlie Brown, and Sally, and Snoopy, and the Little Red Haired Girl to death. Came up with squat. However, Forrests house growing up is darn near identical to Charlies.....so maybe he's Charlie Brown and we need to find the connection. Just a thought.

I usually get good advice from Lucy for a Canadian nickel. Smile

But I think if Fenn asks us to stay inside the box and we can't use "specialized" knoweldge.....

..then nothing, from what I've seen, has a better or more simplistic solve of HOB than Charlie Brown.

Wow...that just reminded me....

Charlie is my alternate choice for hoB. Especially since all those hidden Snoopys in the Viveash SB, and that VERY interesting spring bearing CB’s name in WY. I might have to look at that place one more time to be sure...

I think it was a spring. I need to check my notes.

Home of Brown= Home of Van Dyke

Van in a surname meant “of” or “from.”

The original color of this shade of brown oil paint was composed of 90% organic material (think of the contest on Dal’s where you had to use organic material to make art)— soil and peat.

Lol. I love Snoopy. Or, as I called him as a kid, “Spoopy.” Smile

RE: Of Brown
I wouldn't be looking for names or signs.

My theory is: start in Santa Fe and head north. While you are driving a passenger is helping you look for rock formations that look like Snoopy or Charlie Brown (or his shirt)

Not only does this fit the bill of using imagination, but also it's what a kid would think when given the poem, its what kids do when they are in the back seat of a car, and its the only HOB i've heard that will stand the test of 1000 years.

My takes you'll be walking down in elevation to HoB and instead of Brown being a character, its describing the type of rock formation you're looking for.
